A PERFECT SAVIOUR - A COMPLETE SALVATION
“And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality
and power.” Colossians 2:10
I believe the gospel of God can be summed up in this declaration of
Holy Writ. The accomplishment of our Lord Jesus Christ in His wondrous
Person and glorious redemptive work is fully revealed in these profound
and comforting words. This Word of God is specifically and particularly
for those that know Him in regeneration. We are complete in Him Who
lived for us, died for us, and now ever lives to make intercession for
us, and He is sovereign over all things, working all things to His children‘s
good and to His glory. As the eternal God of all grace looks upon the
Shepherd’s sheep there is nothing lacking in them because He views them
in His blessed Son. We had nothing by virtue of our fallen nature -
now we have every thing by virtue of the Lamb of God - “Blessed be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who hath blessed us with
all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” Ephesians
1:3. There was not one of us righteous, no not one - now we have
the spotless righteousness of God’s Own Son - “But of Him are ye
in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness,
and sanctification, and redemption” 1Corinthians 1:30. All
we were and all we had was sin - now we have none by the obedient death
of our Substitute and Sacrifice, the Lord Jesus Christ - “Now, once
in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice
of Himself” Hebrews 9:26. My friends, this is the only gospel,
(Good News), that there is. All false gospels, (which is not a gospel,
(Galatians 1:6-9), propagate an incomplete Saviour and an incomplete
salvation by their declaration of an unsuccessful redeemer and enthroning
the sinner’s so-called free will. The elect of God are forever safe
and secure in the loving care of Him Who is the Head of all principality
and power, - Him “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling,
not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace,
which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” 2Timothy
1:9.
