BLESSED FELLOWSHIP

“God is faithful, by Whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord” 1Corinthians 1:9

All those whom our Heavenly Father has everlastingly loved and chosen for Himself in electing grace shall be effectually called unto the sweet fellowship of His blessed Son in His time. The justifying work of our Redeemer is not the cause of it, rather His substitutionary work secured it. The moving cause of Christ our Lord’s justifying work and the fellowship whereunto He calls us is the incomprehensible love of God for His people - “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” 1John 4:10. Often, I feel, we are so involved with the legality of the great and glorious work of redemption rendered by the Lamb of God that we pass over and ignore the heart and soul of the gospel which is manifest in His Person and work and shines as a beacon throughout the Book of God, which is His infinite love - “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us” 1John 3:16. We, those whom He loves, will be called by Him Who loves us, unto and into Spiritual fellowship and communion with Him. Having been given life (Spiritual life, the life of Christ), faith in Christ, and having been brought into agreement with the Truth of God, we, with love, will enjoy the perpetual fellowship of the Living God and His Blessed Son because He has made us to “…know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that we might be filled with all the fulness of God” Ephesians 3:19. In the experience of grace our fellowship of love with God and His Christ is in the gospel of Christ and with others whom He has brought into His fellowship - “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ” 1John 1:3. As we enjoy this fellowship together with the Father and the Son we can only attribute it to God’s love for us and His faithfulness to us.

“Faithful is He that calleth you, Who also will do it” 1Thessalonians 5:24
