“…CHRIST, WHO IS OUR LIFE”

“When Christ, Who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory” Colossians 3:4

The child of God lives Spiritually by the regenerating work of the sovereign Spirit of the Living God. We live in Him and He lives in us. We live by vital union with Christ our Lord - “I am the Vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit” John 15:5. Those that are alive in Christ live their life in this world with this same blessed realization and desirable end - “Christ is our life”. The worldling’s life consists of the things of the world - “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world” 1John 2:16. The difference is evident by the manifestation of the desire of the heart in our daily commitment to the one or the other. This is not just the opinion of this preacher, the scriptures declare it to be so - “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” Matthew 6:21. The rule of the believer’s life is governed by his God given love for Christ and the things that are relative to Him, not by legal demands, nor by the priorities, or the desire for the pleasures of the flesh and carnal mind. There is nothing that anyone can do that is of any justifying merit before God, yet, every thing we do reveals our love, our lack of love, for Him Who justifies the ungodly. The gratification of the flesh is priority with those that think little of Christ (“…men shall be lovers of their own selves, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God” 2 Timothy 3:1-7). The “Lovers of God” - have been made willing to deny the flesh, take up their cross and follow Him - “Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me” Matthew 16:24. Many things are not sinful within themselves, yet when they interfere with and take precedence over the gospel of Christ and the worship of God they reveal the treasures of our life and where our heart really finds it’s pleasure.

“And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection” Luke 8:14.
