“O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” Jeremiah 10:23

As Jeremiah, every believer has been taught, or will be taught, by the Spirit of the Living God in the experience of grace that He is sovereign in all things, especially in salvation and in Providence. To the child of God this is not just a point of doctrine. This is the way of life in Christ Jesus our Lord as we live by faith that He has given. We do not live at the mercy of blind fate. We live in the heart of our blessed Redeemer Who will do only that which is for our eternal good - “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose” Ro 8:28. The chosen of God will submit gladly and thankfully to the wisdom and will of their Heavenly Father in things eternal and temporal - “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” 1Th 5:18. Often He takes away our physical comforts that we may experience His comfort. Many times He takes away the things the fleshly man would most hope in that we may experience the living hope we have in Him. All of these things He mercifully sends to His children is but a trial of faith that when finished will shine forth as fine gold (most precious faith). It is not in us by nature to direct ourselves in the way that glorifies God and that which is good for us. We don’t have a clue! But thank God He does! We must remember in all of our trials, afflictions, testings, troubles and disappointments we belong to Him. We are in His loving hands and He will never leave us to ourselves and He will never, no never, no never forsake us … Even in death! There are primarily two things that promotes true worship … Our need for Him and confidence in Him. All of the circumstances in a believer’s life brings us to this one place - “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” Heb 4:16. He encourages each of us to “cast all your care upon Him; for He careth for you” 1Peter 5:7.
