PEACE

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

The Lord Jesus Christ by His vicarious death effectually reconciled His people to God. Now in the experience of grace in regeneration we enjoy this peace inwardly by His omnipotent Spirit. The means whereby we obtain and experience this peace is by God revealing Christ to us in His Word. This peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus - Philippians 4:7. This is a covenant promise of our sovereign God. The sin of this flesh (which we hate), the evils of this world, the troubles and cares of this life must bow and succumb to the reigning Prince of Peace, our Lord Jesus Christ. This is not to say that we will not have tribulation as we live in this flesh in the world. Our Lord says we will - “In the world ye shall have tribulation”. But never forget in the next breath He says - “but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Only that which is learned by experience is really learned and is of any profit or benefit to our souls. To know of the peace of God is of utmost importance. However, to experience the presence of Christ Who is our peace is of infinite value. The Lord Jesus Christ has conquered every enemy of our souls here in this life and satisfied the just demands of Almighty God in all eternity being our Substitute and Sacrifice. It is a promise of God our Father that we will have tribulation. You can count on it. It is a promise of our God as well that in Christ His people shall have and experience peace and rest. You can count on it! The foundation of this blessed peace is not mere presumption but rather the glorious person and the perfect work of the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
