PERFECT
“…You are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power” Col 2:10 The true gospel of God reveals our perfect Redeemer and His perfect work as His people’s Substitute. There is no son of Adam perfect nor is there any thing that man has ever done that is complete or perfect, rather the opposite. All false gospels (which is of man) declare an imperfect savior and an incomplete work. Therefore those whose faith is in an incomplete savior have an incomplete salvation. On the other hand, those who have been regenerated by the sovereign Spirit of the Living God are eternally, perfectly, complete in the Lord Jesus Christ. They lack nothing! This would be unbelievable had not God Himself declared it to be so. Although there are innumerable truths implied in this amazing declaration, I believe it can be summed up in two cardinal, vital, Bible doctrines. (1. The child of God has freely received, by imputation, the perfect righteousness of the God-man, the Lord Jesus Christ. The ultimate perfection of the saints is the intrinsic, illustrious righteousness of sinless perfection, which glory belongs only to Christ. He is “The LORD our righteousness” Jer 33:16. “He is all my righteousness; I stand in Him complete and worship Him”. If I am in Christ I can never be more righteous or less righteous than He is! I pity the poor human being that thinks to justify himself before a thrice holy God by His own works of righteousness! (2. The saints of God have no sin whatsoever! Completely vindicated of all sin and trespasses …past, present, and future! Christ Jesus our Redeemer bore our sin in His Own body on the tree. Oh blissful thought! Oh wondrous truth! “Did you hear what Jesus said to me?” “My sins are all taken away”! That man who has no sin is complete and perfect before God Almighty. THAT MAN is the Lord of Glory, and those worthless, yet sinless objects of His sovereign, everlasting love and grace who rest in His everlasting arms. It is true, we experience our sin and imperfections every day in this corrupt flesh and sinful world. This is our life in this body of flesh. But, thanks be unto God, the inward man, created in Christ Jesus in righteousness and true holiness, is complete and perfect before God and shall remain so infinitely. This is our life in Christ! - Tommy
