THE
GLORY OF THE LORD
“And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see
it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” Isaiah
40:5
The glory of the Lord is every thing that He is in character and virtue.
His very Being separates Him from all else. He is God alone - “Remember
the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am
God, and there is none like Me” Isaiah 46:9. The revelation
of the True and Living God is none other than the glorious Person of
God Incarnate, the Lord Jesus Christ - “…God was manifest in the flesh”
1Timothy 3:16. In Holy Writ He is God from the beginning to the
end, in the Old Testament and the New. It is God that was manifest in
the flesh and dwelt among us - “And the Word was made flesh, and
dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten
of the Father,) full of grace and truth” John 1:14. It is
God that saves sinners - “there is no God else beside Me; a just
God and a Saviour; there is none beside Me” Isa 45:21. The
only God that regenerated sinners will ever know or see is the Lord
Jesus Christ, our Sovereign and Redeemer. A denial of the God-Man is
a denial of God Himself and is an unmistakable evidence of unbelief,
and those that remain in unbelief shall suffer the damnation and wrath
of God Almighty - “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in
your sins: for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your
sins” John 8:24. Make no mistake, the Word of God plainly
reveals God in Christ and those that will not believe on Him (Who He
is and what He accomplished in His life and death, embracing Him in
love with the heart), will one day perish without Him. I want to deliberately
place emphasis on the manner in which He must be believed upon - with
a heart of love for Him which is given in regeneration. It is impossible
to love God apart from loving Him Who loved us and gave His life a ransom
for us. The glory of God is revealed in one Person, and one Person alone
- “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath
shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory
of God in the face of Jesus Christ” 2Co 4:6.
