THE MESSAGE “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” 1Corinthians 2:2 Although the Bible is complex and impossible to understand, believe and embrace, apart from the revelation of Almighty God the Spirit, it’s message is singular, simple and dogmatic in all context and in Spirit. The context of the scriptures is the revelation of God concerning Jesus Christ, His Son, and the redemption of fallen, elect sinners in Him. Any message that is not crystal clear concerning who the Lord Jesus Christ is and what He accomplished in His life and death, and what He is doing now is not the message of the scriptures and is false. Sometimes folks like to give men that claim to be preachers of the gospel some credit and say “He said some good things”. The truth is that if we claim to preach the gospel and do not preach Christ in all His glory, in every message, every time we preach, we have not preached the gospel and have not said any thing good. The message of the gospel is “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” . This is the “good news”. This is the “good tidings” from God to His people. It is not good news that He came to make salvation possible. It is not good news that salvation is up to the sinner. It is the best Word from God to sinners that “He hath obtained eternal redemption for us”. Any thing less than the successful work of the God the Son robs Him of His glory and exalts self-righteous man. Those that God has called and sent to preach Christ Jesus the Lord, and those who believe on Christ, do not try to blend in with and fellowship with the filth and hog-wash that permeates the contemporary religion of the masses in our day. The only message that honors God and glorifies His Son and gives hope for sinners is the singular message of the Bible - “Salvation is of the Lord”. Let the legalists and intellectuals say what they will, “I am determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified”. Tommy |
