WORTHY IS THE LAMB

“… Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.” Revelation 5:12

The risen, exalted, Son of God - Son of Man, the God-man - Jesus Christ, having accomplished and having obtained eternal redemption for all those whom God the Father had given Him in the Eternal Covenant of Grace by the offering up of Himself, being their Substitute and Sacrifice, is displayed in regal glory - “The Lamb in the midst of the throne” for all to observe and especially for those whom He redeemed to worship now by faith and forever to worship in His wondrous presence when we shall see Him as He is. He alone is worthy. He must be the blessed object of our worship here or else we will never worship Him there. “Worthy is the Lamb” is the message of the gospel of God. “Worthy is the Lamb” is the heavenly chorus which we sing - “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation” Revelation 5:9. Away with the pompous prating of pagan self exalting religious Pharisees who daily seek to rob Him of His glory. He alone is worthy of riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. The Lord Jesus Christ by Himself purged our sins and is now set down on the throne of His glory and is the singular object of His people’s praise and worship. When we, by God’s grace, are able to see His worth, we will cease to brag and boast of our supposed righteousness and will join in unison with Job in his confession “I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth Thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes” Job 42:5-6.
