“…WHICH HOPE WE HAVE…”

“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil” - Hebrews 6:19

The believer’s hope lies in the immutability of God and in the promises He made to us in Christ Jesus our Lord. In Him we have a “strong consolation” which is the Anchor of our soul. The child of God doesn’t just fancy or have a hopeful attitude that things will work out as God has promised, he has a good hope through grace in the omnipotent Lord of Glory which is sure and steadfast, which comes with God-given faith in Him. The hope of the child of God is secure in Christ…without Him there is no hope. He is our hope in this world, no matter what the circumstances. He is our hope of heaven when this life is over, no matter when this life is over - Col 1:27 “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Our Spiritual life begins with hope in Him, we persevere in this hope and we die with hope in Him…the same as faith. In this life we experience, feel and live with this hope in our Redeemer. Having believed and believing in Him we are sustained, comforted, assured, encouraged and supported by the faith and hope that He has given us in Himself by the gospel. The believer’s hope is not in this world or the things of this world. The believer’s hope is not in his works or performance of duty. The child of God has no hope in any thing or person other than the Lord Jesus Christ and His faithfulness. The hope which we have gives rest to the soul, peace to the heart and confidence in God’s Word.
